High School Senior Portraits at the Hotel Del Coronado

Tonight I had the pleasure of photographing Heather, a HS Senior from Washington. We started out in the courtyard area.

Heather was a blast to work with, getting her to smile was no problem at all.

We then moved out to the beach for a beautiful sunset.

We also snuck in a couple of family portraits while the rest of Heather's family was standing around watching us shoot photos.

We ended the evening out near the lifeguard tower.

Thank you Heather! I hope you enjoyed our session, and this sneak peek at your photos. We'll get the rest to you as soon as possible.

High School Senior Portraits - La Jolla Shores 08.02.07

This evening I met with Sarita and her family for her High School Senior portraits. Tonight's session was at La Jolla Shores - a beautiful location for photographs.

It was a perfectly overcast evening, great for lighting. We started in the park area. I told you those baby blues would look awesome in black & white. ;)~

Turns out Sarita likes climbing trees, which is great because there are some really cool ones at the park.

Then it was down to the beach for some beautiful photos along the rocks.

And finally a tricky photo. It was pretty much completely dark here. Cranked up the ISO, camera on a tripod with a remote release and remote flash. Shutter speed - 1.5 seconds. ;)

High School Senior portraits at the Hotel Del Coronado

Tonight I had the pleasure of photographing a local senior, Taryn. We shot for two hours at the Hotel Del Coronado, here is a sneak peek at her session.

First we started at the hotel, in a floral outfit.

Then a quick clothing change and a few more in the grassy area at the hotel.

She'll kill me for posting this one, but Mom will love me for it.

Then it was out to the beach! Another overcast night at the beach - perfect for photography.

Yes, Photoshop not only removes blemishes but changes the weather as well. Where did that blue sky come from????

And lastly a little Photoshopped number along the wall.

High School Senior Portraits at Crystal Pier 07.17.07

This evening I had the pleasure of photographing Samantha, a High School Senior from Nebraska. Our session was at the Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach.

Samantha brought a variety of outfits, and we shot for a good two hours, going well after sun down. The beach was overcast tonight, good for even lighting but no colorful sunset.

We did get a great variety of shots around the pier and a few over on the lifeguard tower as well.

And finally a closeup. Moms always love a closeup. ;)

High School senior portraits at the Hotel Del Coronado

Thursday evening I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing Cody, who is a HS Senior from Iowa. We shot for a very long time, and got a huge variety of photographs of Cody in many different locations and outfits.

Are you ready for some football?

Ahhhhhh, to have six pack abs like this.....If six pack abs are hard like a six pack of beer, then my abs are more like......a bag of Capri Sun. =(

How do you get six pack abs? Just by playing every single sport known to man.

Cody wanted this specific type of shot with the guitar, we got several different shots like this that looked really cool.

And a closeup at sunset.

Senior Portraits at the Hotel Del Coronado 05.11.07

This evening I had the pleasure of photographing Mikaela for her senior portriats.

We photographed Mikaela for about two hours at various locations around the Hotel Del, and with her wearing several different outfits.

One of my personal favorite locations, the lifeguard tower...

It was a chilly night out at the beach, especially after the sun went down.

Thank you Mikaela for hiring us, we'll meet up with you in about a week to review your photographs.

High School Senior Portraits 04.04.07

For the first time in months, I finally got an overcast afternoon at the beach. I swear, every photo shoot I've done in the last year has been in bright sun. Finally, beautiful light from overcast skies - the Photograph Gods smiled upon us today.

Today's session - High School senior portraits at the Hotel Del Coronado. Ashley did a great job and was a lot of fun to work with. Here's a little secret for her friends - if you ever want her to smile, just tell her NOT to smile. Works every time (ha ha).

Even though we do a lot of photo shoots at the Hotel Del, I'm always looking for new locations for shooting. Today we wandered into the small courtyard within the hotel, and I'm loving the photos that we got there. I will definitely be back.

Finally, because I told Ashley that her blue eyes would look really cool in black and white, here's a sample.

HS Senior portraits at the Hotel Del Coronado

Yesterday I had the privlege of photographing Lauren, a local HS Senior. The Hotel Del Coronado always works as a beautiful backdrop for Senior portrait photography, and once again it did not let us down.

We started with some more casual photos out in front of the hotel.

Then moved to an adjacent green area for some shots in a different outfit.

Next it was to some stairs along the side of the hotel. Someone asked us "what magazine are you shooting these for?"

And well after sunset (people often wonder what the heck I'm photographing when it's practically dark outside - well, if you know what you're doing, then it looks something like this.

High School senior portraits 02.21.07

Today I had the privilege of photographing a young woman for her senior portraits. We did both a studio session and a beach session at the Hotel Del Coronado.

As usual, I shot way to many pictures, and will have a heck of a time whittling them all down to the final cut. Photographing a beautiful subject, and taking a lot of photographs makes for a lot of computer time.....soooo many good ones to choose from.

Several clothing changes, and several location changes at the Hotel Del Coronado also helped us get a great variety of images.

Senior portraits are one of my favorite types of photography, so I really enjoyed doing both a studio and a beach session. Thank you again for hiring us, I can't wait for you to see the photographs in person!
