My birthday isn't until October, but in lieu of planning a birthday trip, I told my husband I wanted photography equipment. He said to go ahead and order my goodies now, so I did! Yippee...it all showed up today and I am sooo excited! Got the 5D MARK II, a new 580 EX II Flash, 50 mm 1.4, 2 alien bees, a new case, and some other goodies!
Now I have no excuses! If the pictures are bad, it's all on me! Sorry Sean, the camera was on backorder at B & H, so I went with Adorama. |

Yep, I have been a very good girl...and my husband is pretty stinkin' amazing! It is an indulgent birthday gift, but I am too excited to feel guilty! Normally we don't do gifts for birthday's, but it's the big 4-0 coming up. In my greed for new camera equipment I decided to skip my husband's party plans and/or trips and applied the money towards something I can use for a very long time!
Funny, but he was rather disappointed when I made the decision, as he was looking forward to a vacation!!! |

Besides maybe you can make some money with the new stuff then have an even better vacation!!!! OR at least you'll get great pic's of the vacation!!! |

Wow, you made a really good haul! I'm happy that you were able to get these goodies.
40 is great! Turning the big 4-0 was a really freeing experience for me. I can't wait to see what 5-0 holds....but I have to. I haven't quite yet gotten to 45, but soon. Here in the 40+ pool, the water is great and we'll save a floatie for you. Happy birthday early and when it gets here. |

Ok...now that yur equipment is twice as expensive, we are expecting twice as impressive pictures.....cause its all the camera.....right?
All kidding aside....enjoy your new gear...sounds like you will be having fun over the next few months getting things dialed in. Roman |

Ha! Thanks Roman! I haven't been posting much, but I have been going through all the older posts and gleaning information from those on a regular basis. One of the best posts, that sticks in my mind the most, was your post of "The Great Big Secret of Photography". It made me think hard about if I really needed the new equipment or not, but in the end the greed for a full sensor camera and some lights won out!

Debbie, if it makes you feel better....even at that rudamentry level (the "I want" level), it will help a bit as you become excited. Excited people are more open to learning and exploring. So in a way...this will help your photography. You have the equipment now....have FUN!!! Play with new ideas.....and bring the results back here so we can have fun with you. Roman |
